Hello out there. Some of you are new so I will update you. About two months ago, I have came up with an idea for a fantasy based story with elements of late victorian/ pre industrial age with a dash of post WWI stuff with a sprinkle of mecha with the side dish of steampunk.

The series is basically a fantasy retelling of the American Civil War. Yes, I will have blacks as slaves for the south BUT I have more. Dwarfs are forces labor in mines/ trenches/ etc as Elves, pending upon their skin color, are also slaves. There are a few "southern gentlemen" so to speak but on the lower end. They as well as Anthropomorphic people (think SWAT Kats/ Road Rovers/ etc) are taxed HEAVY! However, slavery is coming to an end thanks to machines but the prospect of forced labor with minimum wages is being thought up.

As the north is cautiously becoming industrialized as to not to do harm to the environment nor to current infrastructures but they do have the same advantages as the north did in 1861-1865. There, everyone is equal as to say the aftermath of 1865 where the minors were still quote being subjected to ridicule and harsh laws. Now that I think of it, lets make it two countries. That's more like it.

I am still trying to figure out the reasons why these two will go to war. I'm thinking over the north's harsh trade restrictions and the occasional blockade. The south fires off an ultimatum as the north responds with shells as one of their small harbors. No, that doesn't sound good. Need help.
